Pruning
Pruning can mitigate risks by removing or reducing branches that overhang homes, sidewalks, or parked vehicles. When executed correctly, pruning can extend a tree's lifespan, promote healthy growth, and improve the aesthetic value of your property. When working with our Port City arborists they will conduct annual or bi-annual inspections of your trees and offer recommendations as needed to ensure continued protection of your landscape and assets.
Planting
We can provide small-scale plantings for your front beds, wood line, or back patio. While we do not offer full-scale designs, we can plant trees up to 2” in caliper and replace smaller shrubs under your direction. We can work with you to select the right tree for the right site. Provide the trees, shrubs, and/or perennials with the right treatments and environment to get them off to a healthy start from the initial planting. Using a Port City arborist in devising your planting plan will dramatically improve the success rate of your new landscape.
Root Zone Excavation
Different root zone excavations can be done based on your property history and planting. The main aim is to remove excess soil and reduce compaction for better root growth and soil aeration. If roots are not visible, the tree may be planted too deeply, needing immediate soil removal to prevent girdling roots, which can kill trees prematurely. Root pruning may be necessary for girdling roots depending on their size. Excavations can be performed before construction to avoid tearing roots and after construction to relieve compaction.
